Offtopic (#15) - Are we missing the inspiration? (#27) - Message List
I just want to tell you about one of my friends. He is working as a developer for a project which helps children to learn math as they play online games.
One think that happen really make me ask myself how inspired I am doing my work.
This weekend my friend worked 12 hours per day to finish their product shop on time. And in the end of the days he was so happy about the work he done even it was not exactly completed. He was not looking bored and tired at all...
I remember cases when I was doing my school projects a lot during the weekend and I realize that the thing which inspired me was the prove for myself that I can do such a thing and may be that the others seeing my project would say "Yes, this is good.".
Now we are working on(and generally we are creating) Sophie 2 project - Open up the world of authoring.
With shame after so many months working on this, today I clearly understand that we can really do something useful and cool. We can really create product for writing books, not the next crappy project with two or three unuseful releases. And there can be authors which write their books on our product.. and it will helps them to finish their work faster and with good outlook.
Not to prove ourselves or to prove that we deserve more big salaries, or to meet each others at work. Just to create something useful and free with our hands and with our vision. Imaging this in the exact moment I am inspired to learn, configure, understand and write(it may sound freaky it can be painting or writing a book) and to do this not for the hours or for the salary or for proving or even for experience. It is great to have opportunity like this.
Sadly, I think that somehow we often loose our inspiration and that's why the things are not looking good. May be 'work towards the goal' or 'work to exactly do the goal' is not enough or we can't imagine our goal completed and don't care at all because of this.
My friend can imagine his work completed and his goal accomplished. I think it depends only on the inspirational feeling and the goals we give ourselves. This is the real "working" power.
I'm happy to share my thoughts with Astea team and sorry for the bad English but it is important to be like that either for the community and for our American workers, which I think can also be an inspired part of the Astea team:).
