= 1. Working with Sophie Server =

Sophie Server allows you to share and download Sophie books through a webpage. Sophie Server is an application that can be deployed on any web server allowing the creation of a social network of Sophie books and users.

Not all Sophie Server functionality is currently implemented: it should be recognized that in this release, Sophie Server exists for demonstration purposes only. The demonstration Sophie Server can be visited [http://sophie2.org:8003/login.jsp here].

== Working with Sophie Server as an administrator ==

This release of Sophie provides the first public release of the Sophie Server application. This is in the main download package. To run Sophie Server, first follow the [wiki:ITERATION_11/Release/UserDocumentation/01_PreReleaseSophie/01_InstallationInstructions installation instructions] for Sophie. Then run the file ''sophie2-alpha-3\sophie2_server.bat'' (on Windows) or ''sophie2-alpha-3/sophie2_server.sh'' (on Linux or a Mac). To test if your Sophie Server is working, navigate to [http://localhost:8003 http://localhost:8003]. If Sophie Server is running correctly, you should see the standard Sophie Server interface; you'll be able to create new accounts and login just as with our demonstration server. 

Be aware that this is server software; it does open a port on your computer. If you're uncomfortable with this (or don't know what this means), don't run Sophie Server.
