Sophie 2.0 Release Schedule

Sophie 2.0 will be released in monthly builds culminating with the final 2.0 release on 09-10-15.

Release 1 - 08-12-15

The initial Sophie 2.0 release will be a proof of concept of Sophie's core. Included in this release will be:

• Sophie running on Windows and Linux (Can be run on the Macintosh with script changes)
• Basic Sophie UI
  • Flaps
  • Menus
  • Frames
  • Prototypical halos and huds
• Simple text support
• Sophie Properties - While not visible, properties define Sophie objects and are key to the design.
• Inspector - The inspector displays information about Sophie objects, including the properties

• Team Task List (Trac)
• Download Page
• Documentation Page

Release 2 - 09-02-13

This release brings more core functionality to Sophie (in prototypical form), including:

• Property thread safety
• Undo manager
• More menu support
• Page Template core support
• Prototypes for page object alignment
• Prototype for selecting multiple page objects
• Frame bounding properties, for example margins
• First pass at audio and video support
• Build Server

Release 3 - 09-03-15

This release brings the following features to prototype status:

• Links
• Internal support for plugin configuration
• Community Web Site
• Sophie Server
  • Resource management
  • Search

We will also start the process of tuning Author, looking for issues and correcting them.

Release 4 - 09-04-15

This release continues to improve existing features and brings the following to prototype status (to list a few):

• Skinning
  • Default Skin
  • Developers Skin
• Application Help
• Status Bar
• Resource list filters
• Resource change list
• Book Templates base support
• Page Templates (as resource)
• Internal definition of Sophie Book File Format
• PDF Export
• HTML Export
• Page zooming
• Page property editing
• Frame rotation

Release 5 - 09-05-15

This is the initial Alpha release. Most features expected to ship in Sophie 2 are initially available in this release. Bugs are expected and some features will not be fully usable.

Features appearing in this prototype stage are:

• Timelines
• Book Template Editing
• Sophie Book Importing
• Printing
• Page element grouping

Sample books are delivered with this release.

Release 6 - 09-06-15

This is the Alpha 2 release. More features become usable and more stable, and features such as the timeline are more fully implemented. The core code of Sophie enters a beta level stability.

Release 7 - 09-07-15

This is the Alpha 3 release, bringing remaining features up to alpha quality.

Release 8 - 09-08-15

This is the initial Beta release. This release is feature complete, although some features will remain at alpha level and still contain bugs. Basic Author features will be available to allow construction of books with acceptable efficiency.

Release 9 - 09-09-15

This is the Beta 2 release. Work continues on fixing bugs.

Release 10 - 09-10-01

This is the Beta 3 release. Work continues on fixing bugs and optimizations.

Release 11 - 09-10-15

This is the final release of Sophie 2.0.
