Insert

The Insert menu lets you insert content into your Sophie book. It looks like this:

Text

Insert > Text will add a new text frame to your currently selected Sophie book. To learn about how text in Sophie works, go here.

Image

Insert > Image will insert an image into your currently selected Sophie book.

Audio

Insert > Audio will insert an audio file into your currently selected Sophie book.

Video

Insert > Video will insert a video file into your currently selected Sophie book.

Audio Record

Insert > Audio Record will allow you to record audio using your computer's microphone or line in and include it in your currently selected Sophie book as an audio file. To learn about audio recording, go here.

Book

Selecting Insert > Book will insert a previously-saved Sophie book as an embedded book on the current page of your book. See the section of the documentation on embedded books for more information about them.

PDF

Insert > PDF will insert a PDF into your currently selected Sophie book. Only the first page is inserted.

HTML

Insert > HTML will prompt you to select an HTML document (.html) to insert into your currently selected Sophie book. A new text frame will be created for the HTML file; to learn about importing text in this way, go here. Note that this is not the same thing as Insert > Browser Frame, which inserts a browser frame which can display HTML files.

Plain Text

Insert > Plain Text will prompt you to select a plain text document (.txt) to insert into your currently selected Sophie book. A new text frame will be created for the plain text file. To learn about importing text in this way, go here.

RTF

Insert > RTF will prompt you to select an RTF document (.rtf) to insert into your currently selected Sophie book. A new text frame will be created for the RTF file. To learn about importing text in this way, go here.

Comment

Insert > Comment will insert a comment frame into your book. A comment frame is a special sort of frame that readers of your book can insert comments in. You can place comment frames anywhere you want in your book and set the size and appearance. When your book is read, all the comments that have been inserted into your book's comment frames will be loaded off the server so that readers can see what other readers have said. Browser

Insert > Browser will insert a browser frame into your book. A browser frame behaves like a regular frame except that its content is a web browser pointed at a specific URL, which can be set on insertion. To learn about browser frames go here.
