Sophie 2.0 will be released in monthly builds culminating with the final 2.0 release on 2009/10/15. The initial Sophie 2.0 release is a proof of concept of Sophie's core. Included in this release will be:

• Sophie 2.0 running on Windows and Linux (Can be run on the Macintosh with configuration changes)
• Basic Sophie 2.0 UI
  • Flaps
  • Menus
  • Frames
• Simple text support
• Sophie 2.0 Properties - While not visible, properties define Sophie 2.0 objects and are key to the design.
• Inspector - The inspector displays information about Sophie 2.0 objects, including the properties
• Prototypical dialog support

This release brings more core functionality to Sophie 2.0(in prototypical form), including:

• Undo manager

• Frame bounding properties, for example margins

• Build Server
• Initial plugin support
• Halos and huds

This release brings the following features to prototype status:

We will also start the process of tuning Author, looking for issues and correcting them. This release continues to improve existing features and brings additional features to prototype status, including:

Most features expected to ship in Sophie 2.0 are initially available in this release. Bugs are expected and some features will not be fully usable. Features appearing in this prototype stage are:

This release includes the initial release of Sophie 2.0 Reader, as well as sample books. More features become usable and more stable, and features such as the timeline are more fully implemented. The core code of Sophie 2.0 enters beta level stability. This release brings remaining features up to alpha quality. Beta releases are feature complete. This initial Beta is a transition release with some features at an advanced alpha level of bugs. Basic Author features will allow construction of books with acceptable efficiency. The Beta 2 release primarily increases stability by fixing bugs. Work during Beta 3 continues fixing bugs and introduces optimizations.
