Download Sophie 2.0

Sophie 2.0 is released under the ​Educational Community License, Version 2.0.

Sophie 2.0 requires Java 5 or its equivalent.

The current release is Sophie 2.0.4 build 2010-02-01-XXXX

New features and fixes

  • Corrected bug report dialog text (User explanation is mandatory, instead of e-mail is mandatory)
  • Fixed time labels in timeline HUD
  • Dropped frames are no longer named nullFrame
  • New pages can now be created via Drag and drop
  • Support for multiple text links
  • Media in embedded books can now be played
  • Frame content can be changed by dropping another resource over the frame
  • Added 15px invisible drop zone for image background
  • Drop on page work area is now indicated as following
    • Green - when new element is about to be created
    • Blue - when a (image) background is to be applied
    • Red - when a content is about to be changed (or a template to be applied)
  • Added icons for different resource kinds in resources palette.
  • Browser frames now support simpler addresses (with one dot instead of two and without http prefix)
  • Added page reordering functionality
  • Eased book portability Changed the default import behavior to link and copy large media to the "_files" folder;
  • Fixed an issue with missing media - now a note that resource is missing is shown.
  • Fixed media and browser on Mac 10.5; there are still some issues with these Macs, see Known Issues
  • New consistent icons for group halos. Changed the green color of the text halos that are not draggable

Known issues

  • On MacOS 10.5 first insert of a media and browser may bring an error report
  • Web sites using Flash don't display correctly in browser frames.
  • Sophie's performance is better on computers when running in Java 6 than it is in Java 5; if your computer has both, make sure that you're using Java 6
  • Parts of the timeline interface still work incorrectly.
  • There are some issues with layout redrawing on Windows Vista.
  • Not all resources can be exported in their original formats yet.
  • Possible audio issues with linux32
